Access Statement For Lavender House
Introduction

We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors in our 4 bedroom bed and breakfast. The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will endeavour to help.


Pre-Arrival

o Local transport consists of a bus service. Bus numbers 401 and 406 run by Lugg Valley collect and drop off directly outside our house. There is a railway station on Etnam street, 1.5 miles from us.
o Menus can be provided in large print by prior arrangement
o We have a basic website

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities


o We are on the A44 heading west out of Leominster.
o Our car park surface is made up of loose chippings with a slight uphill gradient to the front door.
o There are marked parking bays with ample room for all cars.
o There are four steps each 15cm high to the front door.
o We can assist guests with luggage.


Main Entrance & Reception


o The front door is 98 cm wide.
o On entry into our home there is a hallway 1.4 metres wide.
o There is seating provided in the hallway
o The floor is carpeted.


Public Areas - General (Internal)

o The passage to the lounge and dining room is 90 cm wide at the narrowest part and is well lit. The floor is carpeted. The lounge and dining room is on the same level as the entrance.
o There are 18 steps - (of 17cm) - to the first floor bedrooms of Lily and Lilac and a hand rail on the left for the first ten steps. Then there is a half turn on the stairs, without the assistance of a handrail. There are a further 15 steps to bedrooms Jasmine and Poppy on the second floor.


Public Areas - WC

o There is no toilet on the ground level. Each bedroom is either ensuite or with private facilities.

Dining Room

o Breakfast is served in the dining room. There are no steps.
o Furniture is flexible and can be moved on request.
o Tables have a height of 75cm (legs on each corner). We have wooden blocks to raise the height of one table by 5 cm. Chairs can be moved to accommodate.
o Menus may be provided in large print on request.
o We play quiet background music in the dining area of the B&B.





Bedrooms

o Lily bedroom and bathroom door widths 74cm. Single beds, with a passage of 85 cm between the first bed and the door, and 45 cm between beds.
o Furniture is moveable on request
o Beds are 65 cm high.
o One chair.
o Fitted short pile carpet on the floor
o Lilac, Jasmine, Poppy bedrooms - Door width 74cm, en-suite door 67cm. Double beds
o They have ensuite shower rooms (see below for details)
o Beds are 65 cm high.
o Fitted short pile carpet on the floor. Poppy room has varnished floor boards.
o Lily private bathroom. Door width 74 cm.
o The shower cubicle has a step of 19 cm.
o The bath edge is 60 cm high.
o The pedestal wash basin has a curved front a clear underspace. It is 81 cm high.
o The toilet is 43cm high
o We will provide a stool for the toilet paper when necessary.
o Lilac, Poppy, Jasmine are ensuite.
o Door width 76 cm wide opening inwards.
o Shower cubicle edge/step is 12 cm high.
o The small pedestal washbasin is rounded at the front and 79cm high.
o Toilet is 43cm high


Grounds and Gardens

o We have a paved areas with tables and seating. It is private and not-overlooked and has pot plants.

Additional Information


o We are able to use the front door in the need of evacuation. There is a fire alarm system installed and a fire risk assessment has been carried out. We will alert deaf residents personally if evacuation is needed. We can provide an alarm bell for rooms if necessary. Please let us know of any special requirements at the time of booking.
o We are a no smoking building. We can accept small items of food/medication for storage in our fridge by arrangement (access available 24 hours).
